According to the Hindu calendar, Shravan (July-August) is a yearly religious festival celebrated. This festival lasts for the entire month of July to August (4 weeks).

Shravan month is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and the entire month is considered auspicious to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva. Huge number of Shiva fans/ Kamaria (Pilgrims) from India, Nepal, and different nations all over the world embrace a journey from Sultanganj to Baba Baidyanath Temple carrying Ganga Jal (holy water from the Uttarvahini Ganga) to propose on Lord Shiva. The Distance is 105 Km, Scene on the road is like a fair for one month.

Bhagalpur administration is all geared up for the month-long Shravani Mela. Security arrangements has been beefed up and a health camp has been set up to holding points for kanwariyas. Shravani Mela will finish up on August 9.
