Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary

Dolphins are quite possibly the oldest animal on the planet alongside certain types of turtles, crocodiles, and sharks. The Ganges stream dolphin was authoritatively found in 1801. Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary is situated in Bhagalpur District of Bihar, India. The Dolphin Sanctuary is approx a 50 km stretch of the Ganges River from Sultanganj to Kahalgaon.  Assigned in 1991, it is the main safeguarded region for the jeopardized Gangetic dolphins in Asia. When found in overflow, two or three hundred stay, of which half are viewed as here.

The Gangetic dolphins have been proclaimed the National Aquatic Animal of India. This choice was taken in the main gathering of the National Ganga River Basin Authority(NGRBA) led by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on 5th October 2009.

The Ganges stream dolphin can live in freshwater and is basically visually impaired. They chase by emanating ultrasonic sounds, which skip off of fish and other prey, empowering them to "see" a picture to them. They are regularly tracked down alone or in little gatherings, and for the most part, a mother and calf travel together. Calves are chocolate brown upon entering the world and afterward have dark earthy colored smooth, bare skin as grown-ups. Females are bigger than guys and conceive offspring once every few years to only one calf.
