Shravani Mela 2022: Huge crowd of Kanwaris throng Ajgavinath Dham, offer Gangajal to Baba Baijnath on third Monday of Sawan

During the Shravani Mela, a crowd of Kanwaris gathered at Ajgavinath Dham located in Sultanganj of Bhagalpur district in Bihar on Friday. Thousands of Kanwariyas filled water in the morning from Namami Gange and Seedhi Ghat and left for Baja Baijnath Dham in Deoghar, Jharkhand. These kanwariyas will perform Jalabhishek of Baba on the occasion of the third Monday of Sawan. In Sultanganj, the process of kanwariyas coming to the ghats to bathe in the Ganges and fill water started in the early morning. The mela premises and Kanwaria Path are buzzing with bol bomb slogans. 

The crowd of Kanwaris is constantly increasing in the Shravani Mela. The water level of the Ganga is also increasing. Kanwariyas are facing problems due to the arrival of Ganga water at Namami Gange Ghat. The condition of other ghats has worsened due to erosion. The district administration is appealing to kanwariyas to take a bath at Namami Gange Ghat, considered safe. Due to an increase in the water level, SDRF and local divers have been alerted. Additional security personnel has also been deployed. 

Shopkeepers in the mela area said the number of Kanwaris has increased after a week. But due to Corona or drought, Kanwariyas are not coming as expected. Shravani Mela started after two years due to Corona. Shopkeepers expect the number of Kanwaris to increase further in a day or two. The district administration has directed officials to regularly monitor the Kanwaria path.
