The world-famous Shravani Mela of Bihar-Jharkhand has been inaugurated at Sultanganj in Bhagalpur. Meanwhile, it has been announced to rename Sultanganj as Baba Ajgabinath Dham. The exercise for this will begin soon. This was announced by deputy chief minister Tarkishore Prasad after inaugurating the Shravani Mela at Namami Gange Ghat in Sultanganj. He said that the proposal for this will be sent to the General Administration Department. An attempt will be made to build consensus on the nomenclature. During the inaugural function on Thursday, several speakers, including the local MLA, demanded the renaming of Sultanaganj. To which the Deputy CM assured to take the initiative.
The deputy CM said that good arrangements have been made in Sultanganj and the entire Kanwaria Path for the Shravani Mela. The devotees perform the jalabhishek of Baba Vaidyanath in Deoghar by taking a Kanwar yatra by filling water from the Ganga at Sultanganj.
